Fairmont Mumbai has announced the appointment of Chandra Sekhar D as its new Director of Finance, reinforcing the hotel’s leadership team as it continues to set new standards in luxury hospitality in India.
With nearly two decades of experience across some of the world’s leading hospitality brands, Chandra brings a wealth of expertise in financial strategy, business planning, compliance, hotel pre-openings, and operational excellence. In his new role, he will lead the hotel’s financial operations and governance, helping drive sustainable growth while supporting Fairmont Mumbai’s vision of delivering exceptional guest experiences.
Prior to joining Fairmont Mumbai, Chandra served as Cluster Director of Finance at Kathmandu Marriott Hotel, Nepal, where he played a key role in strengthening financial performance, supporting business strategy, and developing high-performing finance teams across multiple properties. His impressive career also includes leadership positions with Marriott Hotels India, JW Marriott Bengaluru Prestige Golfshire Resort & Spa, The Ascott Limited, and The Raintree Hotels.
At Fairmont Mumbai, he will oversee financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, risk management, cost optimization, and strategic decision-making. His extensive experience in hotel openings, finance transformation, and systems implementation will further strengthen the hotel’s commitment to operational excellence and long-term value creation.

His expertise spans financial reporting, audits, compliance, forecasting, cost control, and large-scale hotel openings across diverse hospitality markets.
Throughout his career, he has successfully led finance functions during periods of expansion, implemented automation and fintech-driven initiatives, and guided teams through complex operational and commercial challenges. His ability to combine strategic financial oversight with practical operational insight has earned him a reputation as a trusted business partner within the hospitality industry.
