Howrah to the Coast: A Bengali Culinary Voyage Arrives at C2C, Taj Cidade de Goa

Howrah to the Coast

In a celebration that bridges two iconic culinary worlds, C2C at Taj Cidade de Goa, Horizon unveils “Howrah 2 The Coast” — an exclusive Bengali food festival in collaboration with Sonargaon, Taj Bengal, Kolkata. Beginning 10ᵗʰ October 2025, this five-day epicurean showcase brings the warmth, nostalgia, and soulful flavours of Bengal to the shores of Goa, curated by none other than Chef Swapan Giri, the culinary maestro of Sonargaon.

A Taste of Bengal’s Heart, Served by Its Finest

For over three decades, Chef Swapan Giri has been synonymous with authentic Bengali cuisine. A pillar of Taj Bengal for 35 years and the culinary force behind Sonargaon for the past 15, Chef Giri has not only preserved Bengal’s gastronomic heritage but also elevated it to global acclaim. His artistry lies in his ability to translate tradition into timeless experiences—each dish narrating a story of region, ritual, and emotion.

Speaking about the festival, Chef Giri shares, “Bengali cuisine is deeply personal — it’s about warmth, memory, and emotion. To bring this to Goa, a land that understands hospitality and the language of the sea, is a special joy.”

From Howrah to Goa — Where Two Coasts Meet

“Howrah 2 The Coast” is more than a culinary festival—it’s a cultural confluence. The specially crafted menu reflects the essence of Bengal while harmonizing beautifully with the coastal ethos of C2C. Diners can embark on a sensory journey through traditional Bengali favourites reimagined in the refined setting of Taj Cidade de Goa.

Highlights include classics such as Chingri Malai Curry, Bhetki Maacher Paturi, Kosha Mangsho, and Dhokar Dalna, prepared with Chef Giri’s hallmark precision and authenticity. The festival also showcases an exquisite array of vegetarian delicacies like Jhinge Aloo Posto, Potoler Dolma, and Narkel diye Chholar Dal — each dish rich in nostalgia and crafted with homegrown warmth.

No Bengali feast is complete without its signature snacks and sweets. Guests can savour Kasundi Bhetki Fry, Mochar Chop, and Chingri Macher Cutlet before indulging in a sweet finale of Rosogolla, Misti Doi, Gobindobhog Gurer Payesh, and Chum Chum — desserts that define the soul of Kolkata’s confectionery heritage.
